I replaced my OEM 215/50-15's with 205/55-15's just this week. I ended up buying Continental ContiExtreme Contacts from the tire rack.
We've had a whole week of rain here in Atlanta and these tires are incredibly good in the wet. I drove the car to the North Georgia mountains over the past weekend and drove pretty hard in the curves and the tires don't squeal at all.
They are not a sports car tire but they seem to work wonderfully as a all-weather passenger car tire. They are directional so rotation is going to be kept to a simple front/back swap so hopefully they'll last 50,000 miles.
Price was $71 per tire plus shipping for a total of $318.60.

sumitomo makes that size....not the best on treadlife...but they handle pretty well...and they only cost me 230 mounted, balanced, and aligned.

I second the ContiExtremeContact. I've had mine through all kinds of weather and love 'em. They're even pretty good in serious snow.

Go with the Toyo T1-S - not the FZ4.
As others have stated the S-03pp is another great choice.
Also consider the Dunlop SP-8000 (older tire design, but still impressive performance for the price).

Re: (f1forkvr6)

I'm buying a set of slightly used Dunlop 5000's off a buddy who doesn't need them (he bought a set of wheels with them on there). After reading enough on the tires and hearing positive comments from PAOM, I decided to go for it. The price is right, and they've got to be better than the pieces of crap that came with my car. They are definitely an "all-season" tire: They do not excel in any one condition but they are decent in most.
I would suggest going to http://www.tirerack.com and comparing all of the tires that people here have recommended. Read the reviews and ratings etc., keep in mind the ratings are from users so they are definitely subjective.

Good idea, BUT .... you'll have to go to other forums to get any information on Toyo (not carried by TTR). Try http://www.audiworld.com forums for other tire viewpoints.
