Magnaflow exhaust - burning smell normal?

1602 Views 6 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Spiro SU
I got my Magnaflow installed this weekend; my wife pointed out a very subtle "burning" smell after driving. I just took a look and didn't see any material that would actually be burning. Is this just normal for this exhaust, or is it just breaking in, or?
I also noticed the muffler was about 1/4" away from the rear spring. That's probably where my rattle is coming from, doh!

Yes its normal for a couple of weeks or so. They have some kind of oil inside that burns out with the first use. I had the same "problem" http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

ditto

This is normal. The smell as well as a louder sound is typical for 2-3 weeks. Then the smell goes away and the sound lowers also.

Normal. It's jsut some of the lubrication burning away. I sniffed burnt WD-40 for a day when I got my Remus installed.
