Making your LCD display different information.. HOW???

Does anyone know how to get tech info on your odometer or trip computer display? I heard it could be done - it would be great if I can display some fault codes on it as well, but I'm not sure if that is possible..
Any help is appreciated.

Hold the trip reset down while you turn the car on. Then hit it to cycle through the different displays. If you have the MFA you can do the same with it.

so this is only if I didnt have the MFA? Other then the info that the trip computer provides, what information can I get out of my LCD? (I DO have the MFA)
