How hard would it be to convert my roll-up windows to power windows??? I was thinking I would go to a junk yard and get the parts that I needed from a wrecked Jetta...What are the parts that I would need to get? or is this even possible?? BTW, here's a pic of my car.

If anyone just wrecked their car and gots black interior, that's too bad, but since you don't need it anymore hook a brotha up... give me an e-mail if you might have the parts for sale.

I'd stick with the roll up windows if i were u. It may seem like a pain in the @$$ but it weighs a lot less then the power windows. Just my .02c

That's easy for you to say, you got a GLX! It sucks when someone you know pulls up to the lane next to you on the right and you gotta lean over and roll that mug down. And besides whats a little bit of weight?? I'll just get the power windows then go on a diet.

I was just kidding about the Regulator, don't be fooled by my number of posts...I've been following vortex for years, just never really bothered to post. But let's get back on topic! someone help me do this!

i always thought that power windows were standard for 99+ gti's, never seen one without them before...

If you want to change to power windows pretty much you could just buy the motor and a new door panel without the hole or find something to fill the hole. Then get the switch panel and wire the panel and motor. The regulators are the same for power and manual windows.

problem is that the switch panel requires a different shaped inside door panel for the driver's side, so at the very least, that side will need to be replaced.

TooDamnFast: Power Windows do come on all 99+ GTI's, but I got a Golf GL, and it sucks cause power windows is not even an option. I didn't want a 4 door and couldn't afford a GTI.
If anyone has a picture of what's behind the panel, please post...

Your right about the door panels they have to be changed to make room for the motor and to give you the trim pieces with the switches.
Do you have a picture of your door panels with the manual windows?

I am currently working on installing power windows in my Golf GL TDI. I only have gotten as far as stripping the door to the shell. I'm now building the parts list, because the swap I am doing is much more involved than just power windows, I'm doing climatronic, power mirrors, heated seats as well. I'll post pics tomarrow of the insides of the door and its components when I unload the camera.

I have 4 window regulators that are for sale and 4 power window motors. They are from a Jetta and I would really really like to sell them. I have part #'s and prices, IM me for details!
I know that the regulators will work for a 4 door golf or a jetta, but i don't know about the long, gti doors. THe motors are universal.
