MAZDA6 Sales Shine Through
IRVINE, Calif., July 1 -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported sales for the highly acclaimed MAZDA6 sports sedan reached an all-time high 7,645 units in June -- a 55 percent increase from May 2003. The Mazda Tribute also posted its best June ever with 5,099 units -- a 10 percent increase from the same period last year.
The company sold a total of 25,392 vehicles in June -- a 10.5 percent decrease from June 2002. Overall, Mazda's year-to-date sales total 118,906 units -- down 7.7 percent from 2002.
"Between June Gloom in the west, thunderstorms in the east and a poor economy throughout the U.S., the summer car-buying season kicked off slowly this year," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO of MNAO. "But it's clear the MAZDA6 is attracting attention, and with the right vehicles in stock, dealers are quickly turning inventory into sales."
Mazda North American Operations is responsible for the sales and marketing, customer parts and services support of Mazda vehicles in the United States. Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., MNAO has more than 700 dealerships nationwide.
