Metal flakes in coolant?

I peaked into the coolant ball today and there seems to be shiney metal flakes in the bottom. Any clue on what could cause this?
Thanks.

Metal Flake Coolant, cool! Does it come in Candy Apple Red?

Seriously. I can't say what it is, but there shouldn't be anything metallic floating around in there. You should have the system drained/flushed/refilled. If it's under warranty, it should be covered.

possibly bits of your motor, doubt it is a waterpump as I beleive the new water pump impellers are plastic. Hmmm, Would have to be foreign debris in the water jacket or cooling system. Radiator defect maybe. I would take it to a dealer right away and tell them that there is metal in your coolant, could be serious. Depends on the amount and the source.
