I got my car 3 months ago the mfa and the interior light/cigarette lighter did not work. The guy I bought it off of said it was the fuse, I replaced it and it blew again. I took the car to a vw specialist mechanic and they basically just replaced the fuse and told me that the trunk light was broken and kept falling out of its place and the whole assembly kept grounding on the body when I was driving, so they took out the bulb and said it was fixed. The mfa and int. light, etc. worked again until later that day when the fuse blew, and this has happened many times. I am no electrical expert but any info on this may help me to fix it myself cause I'm broke! I also noticed that the fuse for that circuit wiggles a little bit when it is plugged in, and sometimes all I have to do is jiggle it around and the stuff starts working, but will eventually blow, so the problem must be deeper than that.

Re: mfa problem (Nickswagen)

Find out what is hooked up to that fuse, and start looking at each spot. Make sure there are no frayed wires, nothing grounding it. I had a problem with blowing fuses with my Accord, and the fuse was for cigarette lighter, dash lights, and corner lights. I had just installed a subwoofer, and it turns out that a wire in the back of the headunit was touching the lightbulb for the cigarette lighter. So everytime I turned the dash lights on, the fuse would blow. All I had to do is move the wires out of the way, and it worked! Took me 3 weeks to find the problem though...good luck.

Re: mfa problem (Nickswagen)

if I had the wrong type of lightbulb in the interior or trunk light do you think it would cause the fuse to blow (higher wattage lightbulb would draw more current causing the fuse to blow). The reason I say this is because it blows almost immediately after turning on the interior light.
