For those who are interested: On Friday, 9/2/05 I drove 450 miles to and from NW Iowa to Minneapolis. Temperature was about 80F. Flat terrain. I decided to see what my mileage was at various speeds given the huge increase in gas prices in the US last week. Averaging 55 mph, I got 26.2 mpg. Averaging 60 mpg I got 24.7 mpg. I could not, in good conscience, go any slower. This factors in driving through small towns as I was on primarily 2 lane roads. In my opinion, that is pretty good mileage. Tires were inflated to 40 psi front and 44 rear per driver's door.
