Milltek exhaust Vs. Autotech Exhaust

Alright from what i have seen both of these exhausts seem to be the two best exhaust systems for the 1.8t if you want power. Could some people who have either of these exhausts please comment on them for me or anyone who has heard of or owns exhaust that they think is better than Milltek or Autotech for the 1.8t

Dont forget about forced motion, if you're all about performance. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Milltek offers 12% hp increase. Plus their systems are cat back and cheaper than auto tech http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Milltek exhaust Vs. Autotech Exhaust (ihavenoidea)

I'm basically ready to order a Milltek exhaust w/ the 4 mo rear valence. I like it because of the looks it offers along with the power gains http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif However, I'm concerned with the sound. I listened to the sound clip that's offered and I liked it... I'm just worried about highway drone. If anyone who has this exhaust can let us know how it sounds inside the cabin going about 80 or so, that'd be great http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Milltek exhaust Vs. Autotech Exhaust (Turbo Turd)

i have the milltek on my 1.8T and it is QUIET.
Sounds almost as quiet as stock with zero drone or resonance..people might actually not like it because it doesn't really offer a tone that's really aggressive.
The only thing is that it was a real b*tch to align properly...lots of heating and bending....
hope that helps!

Re: Milltek exhaust Vs. Autotech Exhaust (OkieDokie)

I have the Autotech, and a friend of mine has the Milltech, the Milltech is very heavy= 45+lbs, the Autotech is a feather at like 27lbs. I'm not sure what kind of problems OkieDokie had with the install, it took less than 30min to put mine on, no bending or heating. They sound very similar in tone, the Autotech unit might be a little louder.
Two notes on the Milltech... IT IS NOT 2-3/4" DIA. That is a flat out lie on there part!! it is 2-1/2". If you get the 4motion valence unit you must trim part of the Unibody to get the pipes to clear.

Hmmmmm

Crap, now I'm a bit skeptical on the Milltek unit... Anyone have a site and price for the Autotech unit? Perhaps some pictures and sound clips as well?
:edit: By unibody do you mean an actual part of the car (frame or body) or are you refering to the valence?

Re: Milltek exhaust Vs. Autotech Exhaust (Turbo Turd)

Check out their site: http://www.autotech.com/exhsys.htm
It lists for $749... but I think that they're having a quiet "garage sale" = 20% off which would make it $600 plus shipping...
Hope this helps http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Milltek exhaust Vs. Autotech Exhaust (bdjst4)

Cool, thanks for the site. I'm from Pittsburgh too. Where'd ya get your tint done at if you dont mind me asking?
Anyways, back on topic... I'm not to sure that I like the looks of the autotech one as much. Does anyone have pics of it on their car with tips and a 4 mo rear valence?
Re: Milltek exhaust Vs. Autotech Exhaust (Turbo Turd)

Yes, you must cut part of the under body to fit the 4motion tips on the Milltech.http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif Both units are perfectly made, very good build quality you can't go wrong with either. Search for post by DigitalCandy for lots of pics of the Autotech installed on a Jetta.
The Autotech tip will be nowhere near the 4m valence cut out.

Re: Milltek exhaust Vs. Autotech Exhaust (Turbo Turd)

Being off-topic --- I got my tint done at Terry's Auto Glass in Greensburg.... John does the tinting there, and he's been tinting windows (building and cars) for over 15 years... His company is called Advantage Window Tinting. No problems with the tint, and it looks good (to bubbles or anything) and he gives a lifetime warranty against fading and peeling.
He's tinted at 3 cars that I ever owned (the first one was so dark, people outside the car couldn't even see in
).

Hey Wolks, I did a search on digitalcandy but it didnt yield anything...
I see we have the same car, do you have any pics of your exhaust setup? I'm kinda let down that the Autotech wont work with the 4 mo so I'm curious to see what it looks like on its own.
Re: Milltek exhaust Vs. Autotech Exhaust (Turbo Turd)

You know, i hate suggesting other exhausts on a thread that is specific to a couple, but IMHO, if you want the best system for a 1.8T, there are three companies either in production or close to production now.
ATP, APR and Forced Motion (me). I know that ATPs kit is coming very very soon and it promises to be superb. APR has always made great parts, and i am sure theirs will be excellent as well. We are already in production and have a dual 2.5" tip that fits the 4 motion valance.
Re: Milltek exhaust Vs. Autotech Exhaust (bdjst4)

bdjst4- thanks for the info, I'm gonna be givin that guy a call in a few minutes..
DBJ - I know the forced motion system is a great system and gives awesome results... however I have essentially no real mods done to my car, especially in the engine department and I'm not sure if I need a full 3 inch system. Plus that's a TON of money. What made the Milltek so attractive to me was the good power gains along with the looks from the photos. Plus the price was good because it included the 4 mo rear.
Do you happen to have any pics of a forced motion setup including shots from the rear?

In fact the DBJ system is not that expensive if you just talk about cat-back. It should be under $700 and about the same as AutoTech.

Re: Milltek exhaust Vs. Autotech Exhaust (javabean)

So Forced Motion has a cat back system? What kinda gains would one be able to expect from that? Also, does anyone have any pics?
Re: Milltek exhaust Vs. Autotech Exhaust (Turbo Turd)

I'm no 1.8T expert but the 3" Forced Motion seems like the one to have right now, I believe it's extremely expensive, I think they have GB going in the Classifieds right now..
Re: Milltek exhaust Vs. Autotech Exhaust (Phishy)

Go Check Last months Issue of European Car... end of story.
