Re: mk 3 trim (theevilelves)

Well, I tried. I used some strong-ass double-sided tape, similar to VW, that I bought @ home depot and stuck all over that bad boy after I lost a panel. Has worked well, and then I peeled off the corners of a loose one and stuck it back on. Worked well.
Re: mk 3 trim (theevilelves)

Sand off some paint down to bare metal (4 half dollar size dots should do) then get some epoxy. Mix the epoxy up and stick the trim on. After the epoxy sets up there will be no getting the trim off...EVER
BTW I take no responsibilty for any damages caused if you follow the instructions in this post.

Re: mk 3 trim (H2oVento)

Man, superglue has worked for me. I glued it about 2 years ago and no problems. Be careful where you put it on your car because it dries white!
Re: mk 3 trim (mj6234)

3M weatherstripping adhesive.
Re: mk 3 trim (Bob Roberts)

I used silicone a year and a half ago. Never had a problem since. It does not melt in the hot So Cal weather either.
Re: mk 3 trim (TigerII)

i have a black golf 96 and my mom has a black cabrio 98 and i bought this black silicone from discount auto parts and i haven't have a problem with it yet. Easy to use, it squirts out like glue.

Re: mk 3 trim (theevilelves)

silicone works the best and its quick and easy. drys fast too.
Re: mk 3 trim (theevilelves)

i used 3M tape and windshield adhesive. It came in a big caulk type tube. The adhesive was black. My local parts store kept it behind the counter in their inventory. It was not on their shelves.
Re: mk 3 trim (theevilelves)

I'd use the 3m tape that came on the car. You gotta take off the trim piece, remove all the old tape from the trim and door and clean it real good. Apply new tape and you should not have a problem.
