ok guys ive been thinking on a CAI for my mk2 vr to get some cooler air coming in instead of sucking in the hot engine air. what are you guys using?

this is the only time where the phrase "cold air intake" is acceptable in the mk2 forums; when its being connected to a VR.

i just stuck one of those $20 cone filters from autozone onto the MAF. works just fine

You have to extend most CAI's down into the wheel well. Otherwise it's just sucking in warm air from the engine....... Like mine.

i know you can do what ive done above, but even with the eurosport heatshield it sucks in alot of hot air. id like to exnted it down using a 3 inch aluminum tube but dont know what to use exactly ( CAI from other vehicles etc. )

Filter is in the fender where the carbon canister used to be, it now resides in the raintray as you can see.

It's made with the make-it-work piping from AutoZone.

sewer piping works. A friend of mine has a 16v with a PVC sewer pipe CAI. Very cheap and you'll suck in ALOT of air.

Except when PVC or ABS piping gets hot. It gives off all sorts of great fumes that work wonders on engine sensors.
If you're gonna be that cheap, just buy some electrical conduit.

yea i dont want anything that will affect other crap, i just wanna know what CAI from what car will work, doesnt have to be a VW.
