hey i have a mk2 vr6 swap. (92 jetta & 97 vr6) my car is ahving some troubles and id like to have it scanned with a VAG, but i dont have a DLC, where the scanner hooks up. what can i do? how can i wire up a connector?

Get a DLC from a junk yard car. Connect pin 7 of the DLC to the K-line from the ECU. Connect pin 4 to the car's ground, and pin 16 to the a fused +12.

The K-line is the wire on which diagonstic data is exchanged between your ECU and the scan tool.

so this k line comes from the ECU and should be somewhere under the dash? is it a special kind of wire?

Look at wiring diagrams for whatever car your engine came out of. Find the diagnostic connector. Follow pin 7 back to the ECU (and other diagnostic capable modules). That's the K-line. It's often (but not always) gray with a white stripe.
