mk4 golf/jetta susp into a2vr6, would it work?

I'm looking to do a swap but I don't know if I can use mk4 hubs/brakes/ and all the rest of the susp (except for crossmember and subframe) from an mk4 into an mk2 GTI. I know that mk3 would work but I'm not sure about the mk4.
