i loved my smoked tails when i had them, but eventually grew out of it. great temp fix for the mod bug.

I used the Testors window tint for models. on top of that i used the testors gloss clearcoat. I did about 10 coats of tint and 2 of clearcoat. The clearcoat wrecked it though because It isnt as glossy as i expected so I sprayed a bit too much and it ran in a few spots

you shoulda wet sanded the shading paint inbetween like every 2 coats a little bit, it will get rid of those tiny little bumps.

i wish i could help you clear coat...because i did the same thing as you clearcoating the tails is kinda tricky...what you did is you just sprayed like you did with the nightshades..with the clearcoat, when you start to spray it and see that gloss you have to keep spraying and move with the gloss.. dont be to worryed about runing it takes alot of it to run...and make sure to take the tails off when doing this! its really easy just 3 bolts for tail and then pull out..

I used night shades on mine. Here is a before and after pics. 4 coats of Night Shades and 2 of clear. I also waxed them after a week or so for more of a shine

I did mine with niteshades too, then clearcoated. I do have a pic of all the lights on it somewhere.... I can dig it out if you really want, but the reverse lights shines thru bright white still.
