I just noticed today that underneath the gas pedal of my 2002 GTI 1.8T, there's a little "pole" that sticks up. It looks like it's for stopping the gas pedal from getting depressed completely; probably sticks out about an inch or two from the bottom. It feels like it can probably be unscrewed.
Question: what's this for, and can I just take it out? Will I be proned to flooding the engine if I press on the gas too much (when it's off)??

Re: MK4: "Stopper" under the gas pedal ... huh?? (Concept)

If you remove it you gain nothing it's just a pedal stop.
A couple of Vortexers did a test to try to get the throttle to open more by removing it and it did nothing to help.

Yup, I used a VAG-COM to check how open my throttle was under WOT stock and it already read 100%, so removing that stopper wouldn't have done anything for me.

I installed a Euro pedal stop in my 99.5. It's slightly shorter than stock and has a cool brushed aluminum finish with rubber accent.
