Most aftermarket wheels at a 30 offset are near, at, or just a smidge past the fender lip. An offset of 0 means the wheel will be another 30 mm beyond that point - that's pretty far, not taking into account wheel width.
18x8's with ET-0 will extend too far beyond wheel lip.
Here's side shot of my former Jetta with 18x8's ET35 with aftermarket spt susp dropped 1.5"... rears only have 8mm spacers. Picture the front wheels out 35mm/1.4" more.
