Since we are in the process of trying out many different suspensions on my GTI I thought I'd share the 1st swap. Next up is the Euro springs & Stock Shocks. Should be done next week.

I think you forgot probably the most important part of your review, but i'm feeling generous so I won't hold it against you this time...
How is the ride quality and power-increase assosciated with the clear sidemarkers?

car looks hot!
if I were to buy from you, what method of shipping do you use?
I live in Nova Scotia, Canada, postal code B0N 2T0, I hope you don't use UPS, I get raped with duty and brookerage fees with them.
Let me know, thanks. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Can you provide a brief R&R procedure? Are you having to remove the axles from the front hubs as of seen on an DIY thread?

Yes, on both sides we had to. The left it looked like you may have been able to get away with it but I was afraid of the spindle hitting & possibly cutting the CV boot....so I opted to pull the axle.

Such a dramatic difference! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif Looks real good on stock 18s.
Can you install the sway bar without removing the rear suspension?

Modified by Sincity at 8:47 PM 3-22-2006

The Swaybar is not too hard at all. The worst part is all the 12 point hardware that they use. The Brackets are 12point & so are the end links. But changing the bar did not even require dropping the exhaust...I just snaked it out & the new one back in.

nice drop from stock, incidently did you go for the entire H&R spring and coilover set or just springs.
how does the ride differ from stock?
also what did you get done on the rear lights??
thanks

Just the sport springs & bilstein Sport Struts & shocks.
It's firmer but does not beat or rattle you to death at all.
Rear lights are stock......for now

Those Yellow ones just had to go. But soon enough there will not be any on at all. Euro-Bumpers are on the way over the pond as I type. Along w/ the German Votex Kit

For some reason I've always found this saying hilarious and seem to laugh every time I hear it.

Just ordered a set of H&R Sports and Konis... http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
I am still wondering if I should have went Bilstein instead.

Screw it... to late now!

We can change it if you like. The Koni's we sold out of last week & have more coming but not until april 10th or so....if your stuck on the Koni's I can try to find some quicker or we can swap you to the Bilsteins.....they are $80 more for the Bilsteins tho. But I have to say I'm happy with them so far.
You can IM me here, Email [email protected] or give us a ring 888-389-7278.

Yes, what he said.
Some people have stated that the feel with just the springs is very close to stock,....well maybe, but that spring rate is definitely higher with these H&R's. The Bilstien dampers are an excellent match for the best control. The ride is firmer than the difference this same combo makes on the mk4, if that makes sense. The mk5 chassis is so much stiffer, that it can take better advantage of a good firm suspension too.
The intitial feel is quite firm,....but it should soften slightly as it gets settled in( and for me-the temperatures rise a little).
Somebody asked about Koni's? If they were more readily available when I ordered my suspension I probably would have picked of the adjustable Koni's. They are comparible quality to Bilstien, so you shouldn't be worried either way. . http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I didn't get any free candy with my last parts4vws order...

Its part of the order for free when you pick the one you want.
I also like some of the stories about how guys spent there last dime to buy parts and had no food. But when they got there parts they were able to survive the weekend due to the candy or cookies they got. LOL
