I have a 2002 VW Jetta 1.8T, and it was involved in a car accident about 2 years ago, with frame damage. Apparantly, the frame wasnt fixed correctly, and my front 2 tires wear out unevenly (rear 2 tires are fine) to that point that they are bald after 5 months of everyday driving. This has been going on for 2 straight years since the accident.
My mechanic says the frame is bent, and they can't align the car properly. As you all may know, you can't adjust the camber on these cars, but my mechanic says that if I can get an aftermarket adjustable upper strut mount kit, they could adjust it so that the tires dont wear out of wack.
Anyone have any suggestions/recommendations?

That's a pretty severe work-around, and while it might work, it also might make other alignment aspects like toe unsymmetrical and way out of spec.

r u sure the sbuframe/K mount is not the issue??
have a VW alignment specialist look at it...you may not need to go to extremes to fix it...also, if you'r insurance paid for the repairs, you may be able to get them to pay for CORRECT repairs.

but its been 2 years.... would it be past the statute of limitations for the shop's liability (if there is one)? can't they just come back and say "you could've had an unclaimed accident after we repaired it causing the damage, etc, etc"....

Do you know what the warranty is on their work? Stuff like frame repair shouldn't have a limited 3 months/5,000 mile guarantee, it should be more like two years or more...
