i recently had the lowbeams on both sides of the car go out w/i a week of each other. i guess it makes sense that they lasted the same amount of time but it seems weird.
my car is less than 2 years old and I have 45k miles on the car.
do they typically last longer?
(i realize that age and miles does not necessarily relate to bulb life, i could have driven those 45k miles really really slow... but i didn't)

Re: mkiv headlight bulb longevity (hognozzle)

well since the headlights are on for all those 45k miles, i would say it is completely normal, this is becuase of the daytime running lights. All that is requires is a change in the bulb nothing more nothing less. You could tape of cut your TFL pin on the headlight switch which would eliminate the DRL's.

Re: mkiv headlight bulb longevity (Lasrsktr)

thanks for the input!
i just replaced them and all is well... except scratched hands.
note:
the driver's side is a PITA, but you can do it w/o removing the battery.
