Did anyone ever mod their leased car? If yes, did you end up buying it or gave it back to the dealer??? If you gave it back to the dealer did they give you any problems??? If there are anyone that works for VW what happens if somone returned their leased car but it has been mod before??? anyone experienced anything like this??? I am curious. Thanks

Re: Mods on Leased Car (StingerKod)

I speak for a friend from a few years ago. DON"T DO IT. If you do anything make sure you can swap the parts back before it goes in for service or return.

I wouldnt recommend modding it unless you can remove it.
Re: Mods on Leased Car (jettanjax)

I have a leased car, its modded and I'm not done yet!!! All you need to worry about is warranty problems. Just keep yer stock springs and get the extra ecu from apr if you get it chipped. Other than that theres really nothin to worry about. Just put everything back on stock when yer lease is up, or dont worry about it at all if you plan on buying out yer lease. Hopefully you know how to do all the work yourself or have a friend that does like i do. Good Luck
Re: Mods on Leased Car (StingerKod)

I echo the opinions above. I've leased my car as well, and everything I plan to do to the car (which really isn't much) will be reversible. Chip, tint, blue ambiance LEDs, that sort of jazz. Well, the tint will have to be removed, but you get the point. They know they have you by the balls, and I doubt they would hesitate to charge for "professional removal" or whatever ...
Re: Mods on Leased Car (Concept)

When I turned my MK3 GTi back in the dealership wanted me to leave it modded. Its not that big of an issue.
Re: Mods on Leased Car (MRP2001GTi)

I am leasing my Jetta and I had an Upsolute chip put in it.

As far as I'm concerned, it would be psychologically detrimental for an individual who hangs out on the vortex everyday to NOT mod their car. Go to town, you always have the buy out option in the end.

Leased and modded. Dont worry about it, warranty is all that matters. Just keep your stock parts.
I plan to buy it, so I dont care.
Re: Mods on Leased Car (RVs021.8T)

The reason they would like you to keep the mods is they would probably deduct you for having them.. then turn around and sell it for a higher price because it has mods! Bastards! I seen a sport edition jetta a long time ago when I first started looking for cars.. they claimed it to be a special sport edition when it was someone's used car with aftermarket parts.. the price was outragous too..

Haha, there's your answer! LOL Driver's Option here (1/2 lease 1/2 buy - 100% probably screwed in the end)... anywho, mine's lowered, tinted and about to be APR chipped. If I decide to turn it in after the deal is up, I'll only probably take off the tint. They'll hardly notice it was dropped 1.2"... and I doubt they'll notice the chip. Just my 2 cents. Exhausts, etc... are a different story. Most people who mod their leased cars will probably just buy out the deal anyway.

hehehe... I just flat out leased it... Once my lease is up, I'm just gonna sell it right away. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Mods on Leased Car (ze)

As long as your mod's are reversible to stock form OR the mod's increase the value of the vehicle and do not interfere with it's normal operation you shouldn't have any problems.
I asked when I leased my car.And that is the answer I got.
Some of these mod's you guys are making to your vehicles are actually increasing it's market value i.e. upgraded suspension, bodywork extras, rims, window tinting etc.

Re: Mods on Leased Car (StingerKod)

Since I'll be buying my leased car (which I knew from the start), I have done this:

Oettinger Grille
-----------------------

Pizzy Clears
-----------------------

Kenwood 316V Stereo
-----------------------

VW/ Remus Muffler, Tint.
-----------------------
Most of them are reversable, but who would want a car that was stock!?

once your lease is up you will owe them like 8-or however much you agreed upon and then when you pay that off you can sell it!

Re: Mods on Leased Car (quicksand)

Mod your car away. Doesnt matter if you are financing or leasing. If you turn in a leased car in 3 years - return it to stock. If you are selling a financed car in 3 years - return it to stock. All parts can be sold in the classifieds section with no problem. Hell, even my cracked lower bumper vent off my Jetta was sold =D
Your loosing big money if you dont return your car back to stock if you financed, and your a foo if you return the modded car to the dealer.
Just dont do any stupid poop like stage 3 upgrades or quaife..... rims/susp/grille/tails/audio/chip/intake/yadiyadi bolt ons are fine...
Re: Mods on Leased Car (steez)

Thanks for all the responds. well anyways my car has been modded since the day one. I would PROBABLY put everything back together to make it look stock again but it would take too much time I guess. I was just wondering since we have to cut the stock exhaust to put after market I was wondering if they were going to give me a problem since its been cut and all you know. And went I put my boddy kit, since it didn't fit right I had to sand down little part of my skirt. but I guess I don't really have to worrie about it, Thanks for all the comments. Now all I have to watch out for is my mileage before my lease runs out.
