Monsoon says "SAFE", then works fine ... ?

481 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  pawn707
Driving in rain this morning over the infamous Highway 17 (Santa Cruz, CA) this morning and my Monsoon system shut off all of the sudden. When I hit the power it said "SAFE" before saying "Monsoon" in the display and then it worked fine. This occured three times over the 40 minute drive.
Anyone else experience this? It never asked me for my code, which the manual says it should.

your car is trying to tell you something that we all know is Untrue...
That driving 17 is *SAFE*...
Aside from that, I have not a clue...

Hmm, when I removed my radio a couple times to fix a pesky rattle, I put the radio back in and it said SAFE. That is what it is supposed to do. But instead of waiting for the code, it said MONSOON and worked fine. I have not had a problem with it doing that while I am driving though. I would pull it out and check all the connections. Maybe one is loose. You can pull it out by taking a hanging file folder, pull out the hangar, cut it in half and use the two cut ends in the slots on each side of the radio. That will release it. Good luck.

I'm thinking that maybe, since this never happened pre-rainy driving (it was pretty stormy) then perhaps it's some sort of moisture affecting a connection somewhere.

Yeah I'm surprised I even had an oppurtunity to take my eyes off the road long enough to assess the problem...oh well, that's life in the slow lane for ya'.
