Buyer beware. Do a search for "Vince" in the Golf II/Jetta II forum and check out any posts referring to V.L. Enterprises and/or Vince Locicero. He used to run a very reputable business but something went very wrong somewhere along the way. Terrible shame...

The option 6 trannies usually start out with the lower ration 16V trannies. It isn't just a stock MK3 tranny with a 6th gear tacked on.
And the only reason D got his tranny from Vince was cuz he lived 15 minutes away. But I wouldnt trust him unless you can visit him in person.

When whould that 6th gear be a benifit??? DO you want to shift 20% more???

Why yes, I would!

Main thing is it helps in keeping the engine in optimum rev range, and not dipping too far down when ya reach for that next gear. And better fuel economy, since the 6th normally is a tad bit taller than the stock 5th

Re: More than a five speed (MkIII)

If you're willing to put $3-4k into a tranny for better performance why not just go turbo ? For $4k I'm sure you can go turbo + swap in a 5 sp.
