I don't know if anybody watched this, I always like watching it for Jim Kenzie's insight, but the 2004 SUV was the VW touareg http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif and the 2004 Performance car was the Audi S4 http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif (I can relate to that! Drove one and man did that thing fly!)
2004 Car of the year was the Toyota Pruis
2004 Sports car was the RX-8

i think the mazda3 should have won. while maybe not as important as the prius, it's for sure more interesting and fun for the $

the new Prius is better looking than the older Prius and it has a cool feature - no key in the ignition to start the car, just press the button and go (given the key is in your pocket

European car picked that sporty volvo too. My sisters husband just bought a V8 touareg. They originally bought their gulf after my sister drove mine the VR6. A4s did get good press this year as well as the bmw 3 series. Last year seemed like the awards went to blatant german knock offs.
