I'm thinking of mounting my amp onto the back of my sub box because of space linitations. Would there be any problems with the amp because
it'll be so close to the driver coil and magnet of the sub?

Re: Mounting amp onto back of sub box (98vwjettavr6)

I thought of mounting it under the rear deck but I was told that wasn't a good idea because of the heat dissipation. The amp would be mounted upside down unless I made some special brackets. I was told that the cooling fins need to be on top or, if the amp's mounted on the side, vertical to get good heat dissipation. I don't know if the position is that critical. The guy that told me this is somewhat of a perfectionist.

Re: upside-down mounting, it depends on the amp. Generally it is not an issue however you should check the manual of the amp you have. Some of them specifically state that you cannot do it. As far as mounting it on the box, go for it.

I prefer not to mount amps to Boxes, due to the fact that it makes it that much easier for thiefs to make off with more gear. Yup a all in one package. isconnect power/ground, and remote wire and viola. It's all gone. And your auto insureance probably won't cover it, they will claim it wasn't a perment fixture to your car.
If you don't belive me ask people who have had there equipment stolen.
