so is there really nothing to do down here??

You're posing your question after 9pm on a friday with little traffic... that would indicate that there's plenty to do - and we're out doing it.. Gotta go - there's some Stoli/Redbull calling my name...
What I can suggest is stay away from the parking lot hangouts.. they are mostly just sht talking drama fests.

Re: Moving to Phoenix (jhayesvw)

I heard on the news Thursday that Maricopa County (the county in which Phoenix resides) is still the fastest growing area in the country with the expectation that before 2010 the population will grow to over 5 million residents.

That being said there is a ton of stuff to do in Phoenix; everything from bars and resteraunts around ASU to great hiking and biking and the mountains up North and the beach in Mexico... California is less than 5 hours to the beaches and Mexico is close by as well. Summertime is probably the worst time for someone to move to the desert but truthfully it is far easier to acclamate yourself here than it would be to go to say, Augusta GA or Washington DC in the summertime where the temps reach 100 degrees and 90% humidity so with the proper servicing to your car you should be fine.
We all have our opinions on where to live but the best thing I can tell you is to understand that like every metro area in the country Phoenix has a good mix of diversity and there is cool stuff everywhere.
If you have questions just post up, the Southwest is full of opinions and for the record most of the guys in here are harmless (and desperate to boot.
