Sorry, I know this has been beaten to death... I've searched and could not find the answer...
How many miles per gallon does a stock '84 Rabbit GTI from the factory get?
(I'm looking for the numbers that appeared on the sticker when the car was bought new, from the EPA?)
I'm told I have an early production '84, also has 4K trans.
this info. would be much appreciated.... thanks.

Per the 1984 VW Rabbit sales brochure, the numbers were 26 EPA, 36 highway.

I think the highway mileage was way over estimated for the freeway because that car screams at 65 mph. I know that's not helping my gas mileage...

I'm getting 20 mpg.... my o2 sensor is junk
Re: mpg? >> '84 Rabbit GTI (lostinnc)

MY 83 GTI (stock), 265,000 miles, gets 30 mpg town and country, mostly driving fast and fun. And how hard is to change a $30 oxygen sensor?!

thanks everyone for the responses....
So I'm looking at an estimated 26 city and 36 highway...
I now get about 25 mpg combined city/ highway... mostly city driving for me, now that I have a baseline I can look over my CIS to make sure things are up to spec. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
