I know I've seen postings about this before but I couldn't locate them in the search.
I want to know how to change the content of the digital readout in the middle of the dash display.
Right now miles-per-gallon and the outside temperature show up. I know it is possible to get a trip odometer and engine rpm. Does anyone have a link which describes all the different settings?

Re: Multifunction dash display settings on 2001 GTI? (superphat)

don't you have the manual
i'll try my best to try to explain, but if you have the manual it would be really clear...on your winshield wiper lever you will find a toggle like switch on the end...all you have to do is to push it up or down and it will switch the readings on the multifunciton display...it does not matter which way you push it cause if will cycle through...hope i answered your question
...if that is not your intended question then my bad

Ah yes thank you.
But how do I get the RPM's and other "advanced" engine stats to show up. That switch just toggles through the regular stuff. I know it has to do with the holding two buttons down at the same time or something like that. I also recall that the effect is temporary... i.e. the display goes back to normal when you turn the car off.

From thread: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=166571

Your trip computer will now display a >whole bunch of different settings, like momentory mpg instead of average mpg, >and amongst other things, will tell you the exact number your rev limiter is set to.
