NO NOT MY "chrome finish from interior valet locks (trunk and rear seat)"
How can the powerful 2.0T with advanced DSG transmission even go down the ROAD without that!!

But if that's his preference, why knock it? As I said, I'm happy to have gotten an '06 because some of that stuff would be a big deal to me.

Re: (Shrubman)

It looks like Rabbit, GTI, and Passat production has already started- likely to ensure that the first MY07 units are here to be released at a time close to the release of MY07 Jettas. Last I saw, MY07 Jettas were to start production during week 27. The Rabbit, GTI, and Passat claim to have started during week 22- a couple weeks ago. Week 27 is coming up week after next.
I show TDI continuation from week 27 through week 49, but that may or may not be accurate.

So the first '07 Rabbits and GTIs aren't really '07s? Maybe this is why the 4-door GTI has landed earlier in Canada, since we have had "07s" all along? Damn the way the set model years is confusing...

Re: MY 2007 change point for Jetta, Rabbit and GTI (Jpics)

By "Delete cooling vent from the armrest", do you mean the vent that cools the storage compartment or the vent that directs air at the back seat passengers? Thanks.

22mm ride height reduction. So it will be the same as Euro spec ride height?
what is soft touch in doors and dash?
Radio button in silver finish is ugly!

I'm dancing a jig right now cause there are no changes that will make me regret buying a gti when they first came out. Now if they ever start talking HP increases...

S

Jetta:

Delete chrome finish from interior locks (trunk and back seats).
Glove box lock will be kept in chrome

Deletion of chrome on glove box handle

Just so you folks know, we also got pictures of many of these changes, and what it looks like in the pictures is that by "Deletion of Chrome", what VW is doing is going to a brushed metal finish, NOT a plastic piece.
Please save the bashing till we see the cars.

Re: All NEW VW Websource Posted 2007 Change Points (napalmfly)

overall, i think it's a big improvement.
Items that i like:
Audio Auxiliary input (AUX), replaces glove box light - 3.5mm
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
Launch control will be standard w/ 6-speed automatic transmission
22mm ride height reduction

The only item that i'm worried about. what exactly does this mean?
Replace Active Headrest (AKS) w/ Rear-impact optimized head restraints WOKS.
AKS will be kept w/ top sport seats.

Ya know, the more I think about it, the more I can't see VW being able to make these changes in the late-run '06 TDI's. Not for technical reasons but for sales reasons. If a dealers lot were stocked with both original and recontented cars, both marked as 06' and ostensibly priced the same, I can imagine some issues with potential customers looking from car to car, noticing some differences and saying "what the...?" Or what if a customer decides to "order" a car, the dealer finds one with the color and options requested, and when it arrives, the customer finds it doesn't have the same things the demo had? It would seem like a bait and switch and even the littlest differences could make someone very angry.
I guess this will all become moot if VW actually labels these cars "special edition" or something else to distinguish them to the customer.

Nah, they make running changes all the time. The Jettas already lost the cooler in the armrest, and the trunk side panels, so whats the difference in a few more things changing.
If you think about it, it would be much harder to build two 'different' Jettas at the same time. Easier to just change them all and make them all the same....

Does that mean they are keeping the tie-downs in the trunk? Have you seen trunk pictures?
