Re: My Clear Coat is really bad, I need suggestions (webthread)

A. Can I stop it?
B. Can I fix it without sanding and painting?
C. Can I at least "mask" it? (You can't tell it's a problem when the car is wet.)
D. How do I stop it/fix it/mask it?

A. No.
B. No.
C. Wetsand and polish, finish with a durable sealant, this is probably your best bet. I'd look into Duragloss products since you don't want to spend much money on this. Aquawax everytime you wash should keep it wet looking and help to hide the clear coat failure.

Hey, thanks.
What grit should I start/finish at?
Is there a specific Duragloss product/sealant that you recommend?

2500 is the most agressive I would go, you don't really want to remove much, just blend. 3000 and 3500 is best but hard to find.
The Duragloss stuff is #101 it's in a red box. It's called polish and sealant, it doesn't really polish much, they are weird with the way they name things.
Aquawax is a spray type wax they make and that will keep it wet looking after you wax it.
You might want to try one of their precleaners for the hazy white oxidization, or some color-x
