Tonight I killed a brand new Lexus IS300. It started around Burbank on the 5 northbound, near the Hollywood Way exit. At first, we were just having a little forplay. You know, weaving through traffic, cutting him off, etc etc. This continued on to the 118 westbound. On the 118 we both went at it. He started it. I was in front about three car lengths ahead driving about 80-85 MPH, when I noticed that the gap was closing between him and myself. (Keep checking my mirrors as habit) when I said to myself why not? I punched pedal to the floor and heard the turbo spool. By the time the auto had downshifted to 3rd we were both bumper to bumper. I said to myself "I'll just let this go until the transmission shifts into 4th (which on the auto is about 105MPH) and show him why he paid more for his car" The Speedo quickly climbed and we were still neck and neck. 110, 120, 130 he wasn't gaining on him and I wasn't gaining on him. At around 138 MPH I was a head by about a quarter car length, and that's when I let on the gas. After all, I didn't want to ruin my mileage for this tank. (I'm trying to beat 310 miles to tank this week) I caught a glimpse on his face...was he surprised! I was too, because I almost missed my exit home. At home I left the engine running for about 3 to 5 minutes, after I had noticed my turbo glowing
I really need a DP and exhaust to help out with the top end.
P.S. I really thought he would win because of VVT-i.
