Both 5 speed, OK can u tell me how bad im going to lose, He got his car from the auction and its going to be fixed in about a month. So has anybody had experiance's with a 02 WRX vs a 02 1.8T STOCK. And what mods do i have to get to be able to keep up with him and be able to beat him. My AWP engine is ready to get its butt kicked but not for long.

Your gonna need quite a bit

3" Turbo Back Exhaust, Chip, Evo Intake, and a LOT of suspension mods come to mind

First, your going to need a bunch of mods (chip, exhaust...) to keep up with him. Plus he has AWD, so he'll have a big advantage off the line.
Some people are rumored to have experienced the chipped 1.8T going faster than light, so if you can achieve this he should be toast.

edit- I am starting to set up my car this way, although it's not meant to directly compete with a WRX.
Got the chip and a 3" turbo-back is on the way along with a CAI. I will also be getting a full suspension setup once spring comes around here.

chip, exhaust, and dowpipes will give you a lot of power. possibly a KO4 would be needed, and you will probably beat a stock WRX.

Your friend will walk on you.
WRX is 227hp and AWD. Car & Driver 0-60 time was 5.4 sec for WRX
2002 GTi 1.8t? I am not sure.
Also, the handling of WRX is one of the best I've experience.
Yup you would need alot of help.

bad.....im guessing if your a good driver....3 or 4 car lenghts if u do 1/4 mile

Well, a car or two.
Yup stock vs stock, he will pull couple cars easily. Don't be discouraged my friend. Here are some mods you can use that might help you alot.
Chip (CIAC or UPsolute), Rear sway bar, Exhaust, and suspnesion or spring to lower the car. Then race your friend. He will be surprised.

His main advantage is off the line b/c of AWD. I've driven an '02 WRX 5spd and it was quite quick. It's handling is nothing to write home about as it is more at home on a bumpy road than a nice smooth highway road.
If you were chipped with a filter and DP you should be able to hold your own, or even beat him from a roll. Those things have good 1/4 miles, but low ETs as they get off the line very quickly.

A chip, cat-back exhaust, and a filter. My cousin beat two of them at englishtown raceway park. He just had a chip, intake, and did the 1/4 in 14.7 and 14.6. But if the kid drops the clutch at 5k rpm's, that car can do a 14.2 1/4 so watch out.

Thrust me my friend is an idiot he will drop it at red line if he has too. But he's going to drop it at 4k if he races me.

Damn, then I feel bad for you cause that car kicks ass if well driven. You need to get a turbo upgrade to match his speed. Our turbo compared to a Wrx turbo is small and also he has a 2.0L. Bigger turbo...if not....................

No he didn't crash it he bought it from the auction for 10g's with everything like towing and other poop it was 11g's cash, He ordered all the parts yesterday and there going to cut and weld t or something like that.
