Re: my Fuba became FUBAR... (BL4CK-VR6)

It is about 1/2 hour work o a nice day...you only need to loosen the rear of the headliner after loosening the C pillar trim and the cross trim, as well as the trim that connects the C pillar to the B pillar......then reach up over your head while sitting in the back seat and loosen the nut holding the Fuba base on the car. Use the new gasket in Pottermans kit, and remount with the new nut in his kit and you are done. It is really easy, but looking at a Bentley to familuarize yourself with the trim attachment points first may help...

Yeah, that is what I am talking about. The Fuba mounts from inside the car, hence the need to get under the headliner to get it apart...

Basicallly the plastic trim can be popped off by hand...you may want to use a medium size screw driver to start them off, but I was able to get them all off by hand. You pop one side, and then work along with your fingers behind the trim...

I have to do that to, its not the bottom seal that is dried out, but the base it self is now like grey instead of black, probably because of the salt in winter, that one season I drove it in winter! DOH! I've tried everything to bring it back to black (I even tried Back to Black! Hehe!) but no go! So I'm gonna buy one thats not plastic and replace it.

When I replaced the lower seal, I also painted the base sine mine was also suffereing from the grey syndrome. I used a special trim black in a rattle can by a company called SEM...they call it trim black. It is the correct semi gloss black like you see on your OEM wiper arms etc. Most auto body supply stores have it. Prime, then a few coats of this, add a new seal to the bottom and you are done...

yes SEM is good poop. I used about 4 cans of it on my last car
so are you saying you painted the whole thing or just the bottom seal that is red in the picture above?
