Re: Moved, My gearshift lever wobbles and shakes, intermittent (The Pit)

My shifter wobbles and shakes too, but only in 1st/2nd gear, and only when accelerating or taking my foot off the gas. Higher speeds the shifter stays pretty still.

Drive in 2nd gear at about 50mph in a straight line. Turn hard to the right and pull as many G's as you can. While in the middle of the turn, shift from 2nd to 3rd. Did you end up in 5th gear instead, even though it felt like you shifted correctly? If so, your tranny mounts are REALLY in need of replacement.
I've never heard of this happening in VW's or Audi's, but this is a problem for E30 BMW's. It still could happen though.

Re: Moved, My gearshift lever wobbles and shakes, intermittent (The Pit)

I am new here guys and reviving this forum a bit. Mine doesn't shake, rattle or roll but there is a snap or snicker when I shift from 3rd gear to 4th gear. It probably has something to do with the push down lockout feature of reverse gear.
If you going to get the tranny mount fixed, you may want look into a short shift kit for the Audi. AWE tuning is selling them and reduce the throw by 20%.
I am getting used to the shifter compared to my cable operated shifter from my 95 Passat VR6.

Cloverleaf onramp. Just make sure there is no gravel or sand on it. One of my friends slammed his car into a concrete wall at 90mph because he hit some gravel on an onramp and spun it. Lucky for him he was driving the best car in the world (Audi) and got out without a scratch. The car is totalled however.
