I have never really liked my C8 A6. Coming out of my C7.5 that I was in LOVE with, it was a rough transition. I didnt like the power plant. I didnt like the fact I couldnt do most of the same things that I could on the MMI wheel while driving, on the touch screen. The tune on the DSG box is one that makes me want to pull my eyes out of my head. I just over did not like it. In the interest of my upcoming RS6 I did not want to start another lease when my ability to drive this car was up (demo at work) at the end of year so I have been looking around for something that is cheap to buy and wont lose much value over the next 6-10 months. I was hoping for something with a stick and Quattro so I can take it Ice Racing in Wisconsin this winter. I was searching Craigslist and Facebook Market place (**** that place, my goodness) and found a couple things local.
Enter Sataurday night, I havent been on Audiworld in forever but had been throught Audizine two or three times and figured I would check it out. Lo and behold, I found a 2001 S4 with 221,xxx miles on it just outside of Atlanta. It looked super clean for the miles and after checking the (clean) Carfax, my assumptions were correct, it had been a SoCal and Southern car its entire existence. The car has a couple of issues that are to be expected from a car of this vintage and miles. It has a coolant leak from somewhere. It needs tires. The windshield washer system doesnt work. the Coolant temp sensor acts up occasionally, and it needs a battery, but the guy was asking 2k for it so I figured, with how clean it looked and the price, I really couldnt go wrong. Called a tech friend of mine who is big in the B5 world and asked him if it **** the bed would he buy it for parts and he happily accepted. I had our local Atlanta resident check it out for me today and gave it a big ole thumbs up.
So I just bought this for $2,075 (splitting cost of battery)
I am having the owner drop it off at Audi Marietta this weekend so I can send down a shipper and hope to have it here by the day after Christmas. I am excited to be back in the B5 world and hope that I dont need to dump 5k into it right away
Who am I joking, OF COURSE Im gonna have to do that :laugh::laugh: But it should be a fun winter beater, ice racer, quick bridge to my RS avant, which is exactly what I wanted and needed.
So follow along with me as I pepper my anus.
