My Jetta Coupe Project - lots of pics (make your own witty 56k joke)

Ok this is going to kind of a slow build. So about a week ago I bought this Jetta coupe on Craigslist from a guy who bought it at an auction. He mainly bought it for the wheels that were on it. It had some stupid ass 17 wheel on it, so he bought it took the wheels off and replaced them with a donut and 3 bbs ra's, then posted on craigslist for $325. Ive been looking for a coupe for sometime now, so naturally I called him up and asked if i brought my own wheels if he'd drop the price (the only pic he had was from the auction showing the wheels he took off). He said he took them off already and dropped the price to $250. So I go and check this thing out and he has all kinds of **** on/in it. Things like a hella body kit (front bumper pretty beat), tt cam, tt adjustable cam gear, 8mm plug wires, 3 bbs ra (as i mention before), an after market steering wheel (if someone can tell me what it is, thanks), quad round grill comeplete w/ relays and city lights, and a MINT (but dirty) headliner. I also noticed it didnt have a sunroof (sweet!!!).
Well I started it up. Needs the timing adjusted and a tune up but im pretty sure the 8v is mechanically sound. So far ive ripped the dash out and started sorting out/ inspecting wires. Ripped out the ****ty alarm and some-what ghetto wiring. Also ripped out the painted back seat
, front seats, and carpet. Havent got much done since I have only had the car since friday and today being the only day I've really had a chance to work on it.
Shes no looker, but for $250 I couldnt pass her up.
Specs:1
1987 Jetta 2 Door - non sunroof
1.8 8v w/ 157k
On with the random pics and pllans/future plans.

The rest of the floor looks similar to this. Not very much rust and its all surface rust.

The PO's some what ghetto wiring

Ok now I have a few questions, I do have a Bentley that I will use on the rest of the wiring.
What does this plug go to?
Image uploading. Refresh page to view

Wtf is this? Never seen it before. 3 of the wires are connected to the grounding block and the other wire is connected to a power wire running along the steering column.

FV-QR

looking at it again your right its not votex. Either way its hard to find anything with the jetta rear with the exception of the foha which seems to be fairly common
Re: FV-QR (_a2coupe2a_)

True

... so because there are none in your area that makes it more rare. Trust me out of all the kits that were made for the jetta the foha is the most common, i mean **** you can still buy it.

Re: FV-QR (Slow8vJetta)

Found a few pics of some of the stuff that will be going on the car..
Everyone loves pics.. (sorry my camera is a pos)

Those are the wheels im going run (after i re finish them) until i complete my set of RA's..
Pics are random i know. As far as that 16v goes. Im just replacing seals and all the other bits and pieces. Plus degreasing it and painting it. I also have an Autotech Strut bar somewhere in my garage that i will use in place of that silver generic pos strut bar you see pictured above.
Felt like sharing..

Alright, first update.. If anyone is watching.. Last night I test-fit and mounted the red stripe dash and sort through more of the wiring.. I have 3 plugs that were hidden in the dash the I removed.. So i will bust out the Bentley to see if I can figure out what they go to.. I had a problem getting the dash bezel on.. It just wont fit. Is there a certain bezel I need for the red stripe dash? I thought they were all the same.. I will post pictures tomorow as I wont be home early enough to shoot them in the daylight (well what little light there is). Can someone school me on the dash bezels?
hey man the car has a lot of potential and no disrespect if you like it but i personally think that the wrx scoop has to go. mk2s are too square for a scoop like that. i hope you get a new hood, but its your project and i hope you have fun with it
