Re: my new project... (dermass)

Make sure you get the body work done first. You'll hate yourself later when you need to tear the interior/engine back out to paint the door jams and engine bay. Gotta love free cars that are titled as diesels though...

Re: my new project... (HyKlas)

yeah, we plan on ripping every single thing off/out of the car first. then do all the bodywork and def. paint the engine compartment and interior. would it be a bad idea to paint the car in two stages(engine compartment/interior then do the outer panels later)? we were thinking of doing this to avoid scratches during the build up. thanks.

I took two days to paint one of my cars. Didn't have any problems. Just make sure that you have even coats all over the car. It's a lot easier to do it in a day though. Shouldn't scratch anything if you have fender mats, etc.

well, theres two of us working on it. if tempers flare, fender mats arent gonna help against swinging baseball bats and flying wrenches.

def. needs tlc. the last inspection sticker it had on it was from '92. it had been sitting on a dirt lot since, surprisingly there was very little rust.
