i wanted to not bake tire at all times....35r'd mk4...so when i had a little motor mishap, i got to thinking about swapping my 20v into an audi platform. only thing was even if i got a nice 99ish a4 with a toasted motor, it was still a bit heavy, and it still wouldnt 'legally' pass NYS inspection every year. so the idea was tossed around in my head and between a few other about putting a 4 banger 20v into an older audi chassis cause i hadnt really seen it done too much before, so after finding a donor car for $300 i figured id give it a go.
This car would not be where it is today without....

Re: FV-QR (screwball)

its an 01a tranny. they older b3/b4s also came with 01a's just like the newer b5's and such. the gearing is a bit different in them though since they came off of 5 cylinder motors. the ratios are pretty much in between an 01a from a 1.8t b5a4 and a 2.8 a4, so im hoping its an ideal setup for a larger turbo. also the rear diffs in the older cars are open just like the newer ones, but they had a vac assist locker in them....aka both rear wheels spin and have no choice. i just took out the vac assist part and set it up using an push/pull PTO cable.
