I am still bone stock. Why is it that some days my turbo is smooth and powerful all the way through the RPMs, and others it's inconsistent? Yesterday I floored it and it felt like it had no power but then the turbo kind of violently kicked in at around 4k or higher but then immediately dropped off again. Why is this? If I had a bad DV, wouldn't boost be lessened at all times? I wish I could get consistent power. Some days it flies and other days feels like a N/A 4 cylinder. What's up with that?

well the DV could be bad, the DV is not utilized until after you release the gas pedal that is when the pressure build up and could go against the turbo. What may be occuring is that when you shift and have released the gas to shift, the DV may fail. In this sense there pressure on the turbo from both ends, which in affect causes it to do nothing, but as the RPM range increases the pressure you want to go through to turbo catches up, which causes teh violent boost. The turbo will taper off at higher RPMs cause of its stock design. If you have a chip the turbo would continue a little longer. I would get the DV checked out...it is possible for the DV to break even with the car being all stock. Hope this helps.

Cool thanks. Is it possible for the DV to fail sometimes but not others? I ask because some days it runs smooth and very powerful while others is very inconsistent like I explained.

Try listening to the engine after you release the gas pedal, you nay hear a honking sound which would mean the DV is busted.
