quote:

Hey guys,
Why not bore and stroke it out to a 3.0L and then F/I it with a blower or charger?
That is the way I would go.
PS> Traction control system needed please!

Well, the main reason that people don't go for a rediculous bore on a FI motor is simple, heat. The more bore you have, the less metal you have between the cyl walls for heat disapation into the oil and cooling systems. Most of the nutty hp turbo guys never use anything more than 82 or 82.5mm pistons in their cars.
The decision between NA and FI is one that you have to make for your self. You have to ask a number of questions to yourself and answer them honestly.
From what I take it you want out of your car is a nice driveable setup that has nice power and smooth delivery, without sacrificing the useability of the car. I'd just do a Zcharger and be done with it if this is really your ultimate goal.
You're going to be hard pressed to see similiar power NA without breaking into the motor.

paul- I can't believe how they treat you in here. You offer some "good" advice, and people start to make fun of your unfortunate situation. I choose not to make fun, because I know you live in the rough part of town, and those ******** can get a little crazy this time of year. It's time the get that car, and engine, together and show these vortexers who's the boss!

jininkan- I didn't think you were talkin Dung on him, I was just busting his balls. Everytime i see him i ask him if "the car" is ready yet, and he gives me an expected date when the car will hit the streets. I am kinda excited because i have never actually seen the car, i have just heard a lot about it. I think there should be some sort of party when he gets everything together, and the car is on the road again.
Maybe i will start a petition to get Vortex to do a feature on paul's car. I am sure the story would be very entertaining if they quote paul a lot, he has a couple good one-liners!
jininkan- subliminal message (in a soft voice) "Give the Corrado to PHILA#3, Give the Corrado to PHILA#3, Give the Corrado to PHILA#3" it's worth a try.

Re: N/A OR F/I (PHILA#3)

Guys, thanks for the kind words, just one thing that I can just understand... What car?

Nick, just for your information, my motor has made the transition from being suspended in midair, to occupying some space in the corner of my garage. I needed the hoist when I pulled the trans out of my Bunny. The garage is now full of bits that are getting cleaned and painted when I have free time during the week. I'm starting to make progress, although slow. Hopefully we have a madnuts winter so I can "call in sick" to get some more done to the car. Soon, boys soon!
Although a Vortex main page feature would be cool, my one liners might be too much for them

Happy Vortexing, and if ya'll get bored ya'll can visit me down in Elkton!

Re: N/A OR F/I (QuickBlackGTi)

there are so many things involved with getting that kind of time ... and suspension is one of the biggest factors... I watched a TSR Spitfire pull a 10 second on what looked like 165/55-15's granted he may have had a huge engine under the hood ... but he was very quiet, very smooth and very fast ... ... I think its near impossible to guesstimate how much hp is needed to make a specific time ...
