Hey all, I need something to replace the Acura soon......was thinking either a 04 SRT-4 or some sort of GTI (don't want a WRX).
The SRT-4 for 2004 is getting LSD standard (that's great), aluminum pedals, power sunroof optional, and side airbags optional (the wacky bolstered seats get replaced by the RT seats if you choose this option). I would go that route because I don't like the SRT seats and couldn't deal with them on a daily basis.
I would consider a 20th AE, but its almost 04 already (not sure I want an 03 at this point).
Any thoughts?

whats wrong with the Acura? I can't see going from a high-dollar luxury japanese car like that to an SRT-4.

You will miss the comfort and quality of the Acura, I'm sure of that.

Acura lease is up and I'm looking for something a little less expensive as a daily driver.
Trust me, I won't miss the Acura.

How about a Hyundai Elantra GT?
It's the only non-diesel FWD new car I'd actually consider buying.

Both are great cars beltfed but depends what you're looking for. The VW does have a much nicer interior but the SRT-4 is the king of its class for performance, it will eat a VW alive in both handling and acceleration. But for a daily driver I'd probably go for the GTI, little bit nicer interior which to me is a little more important then all out performance. But if you want something that is quick and can deal with the SRT-4's interior then go for it, it's an awesome car for the money

I figure the VW will make a better everyday car.......we took a look at the SRT the other day and it was better than I though it would be but still lacks the interior VW refinement. Obviously, I appreciate the SRTs performance but I just don't want to sacrifice too much civility for a daily ride.
Hey, I could always chip the 1.8T

And swap the turbo and get a bigger intercooler and...Then you could play with a chipped srt-4.

But performance isn't the end all. You still have the viper and soon the m3.

Hey, what happened to the S60r?

That didn't work out, so after pondering for a short time I ended up going with an M3.
TSX.....cool car, nice interior, don't want another Acura at the moment.
Didn't even know there was an Elantra GT.

Upgrading Turbos huh, must not mod...must not mod.....must not mod.

Well, since you do have an M3 on order, that should take care of all your track/autox/twisty roads, giggle like a girl fun. So as a daily driver that offers both a refined and comfortable interior and yet is somewhat sporty, I'd go for a 20AE GTI.

Is this going to be a lease car? Or purchase?

I'm going to buy this car, makes sense for this range of vehicle.
Mini......little small.
R32......A bit pricey, but really cool (is it coming before 2006?)
I'm leaning toward the 20th AE, the local dealer has about 6 or 7 of them incoming.

Appreciate the comments so far, Thanks.

The R32 is currently slated for Q1'04 delivery. But at it's price, I think
you'd be better off spending 5-7K less on a 20AE if you want a less
expensive, enjoyable daily driver.

That's what its slated for, but when is it really coming

I agree though, with tax the R32 is going to be over $30k....that's more than the Acura (since the R32 would be sold at MSRP).
