The GTI is becomming a track car.
Thus, I want R-compound tires.
I want them to be bigger than the weak stock 205 mm width.
I also want Boxster 12.3" Brakes, so 15" rims aren't big enough.
What I'm left with is a very poor selection of Competition tires for 16"/17" riims, if I stick with what fits easily.
235/40-17 is 1.3" taller than stock, but the closest thing available that fits my wants.
Anyone tried to stuff this much tire under a A3? How'd you do it? What Offset? Roll fenders? Rubbing at lock isn't an issue as it won't be a daily driven car. Rubbing while cornering will be a problem.

Re: Need Advice from experienced. 235/40-17 on an A3? (Surf Green)

I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat with my mk2 GTI. I have 17s and wanted something a little lower profile but there is just no selection on track tires or even street tires for that matter. I will probly just go with the 235 40 17 just so I have more options. You can get almost every performance tire in that size due to the fact that they are oem for the old BMW M3. Time to mod the fender more
