I have an 84 rabbit and I'm lookin for a good engine swap because it currently has no power. People have been sayin that its possible to swap in a 1.8T engine but I dont know much about it. Could you give me the followin info?
-Will it actually fit
-If so, what kinda work would be involved
-What kinda car would i be lookin for if i were to go to a j-yard.
any help would be greatful

I don't think you'd be able to find a 1.8t in a j-yard. But you'd need to find one from a Golf or Jetta. I don't know about fitment, but you'll have to have custom piping for the turbo and intercooler. But idon't really know much on the subject, I just felt like writing in one of these posts cause work is boring as h*ll today

I would honestly say to do a 2.0 16v with Quad-throttle bodies...like 208 HP at the wheels!! And I just happen to know someone who has done this. Patrick Schmidt here on vortex did it to his Rabbit!

Oh, and if you went the 1.8T route, you'd need the engine from a pre-drive by wire which would be a 98 or so Audi 1.8T.

personally why not just buy a manifold and a head from a 20v? Will it fit? Then you could swap out your pistons for some forged pistons to lower the compression a bit and use a Manaul Boost controller or something like an SAVC to dial fuel and boost in.
