I've got a rattle under my hood, I can't seem to figure out where it's coming from. I've got a CAI and a Magnaflow cat-back on there, but those don't seem to be the cause. The rattling is there when i start the car and until I pass 3000 rpms, then it seems to disappear until i get back down to those lower rpms.

That's the one that rattled on my car, too. I fixed that by removing it (probably not the best idea...), but now my DP shield rattles like retard

Like everyone else said, chances are that the rattling your hearing is one of the many heatshield. Really, there are two main heatshields that like to make sure you know they're there. The first sits on top of the manifold. It's there to redirect air back towards your intake for cold weather starts. It'll help the car warm-up faster. Although, from a performance stand point (especially if you have a cone style filter set-up), it isn't needed. It's held on by 6 13mm bolts (4 on the top, 2 on the bottom), and can be a pain to remove. Especially the bottom two bolts if they're rusted on. I've heard of some people making the job easier by removing the intake set-up in order to access the bolts more efficiently. Although,I just went from under the car. Just depends on what you have available to you when you're doing this. The only side effect I've had since I removed this 3+ yrs ago was that on a really, really hot day (while I was sitting in stopped traffic no less) I "melted" the throttle cable. It's a $25 part, and is relatively easy to replace. I can deal with that since I now have some idea of sanity again.
Anyway, the second heat shield that likes to rattle sits on the downpipe. This one is definitely more of a pain to remove, and my suggestion would be to take it to a local tuner and have it removed. Reason being, you have to cut it off, and it's dicey since the downpipe itself is so close. It would suck to have to buy another part. But hey, if you cut into the downpipe, it's a good excuse to get a header. Right? But, I have heard of some people bolting it back "tight" (I think New Dimensions fixs this problem this way) without any problems. I removed mine, no adverse side effects.
Hope that helps.. let me know if you have any additional questions.

EDIT: Yonks! Just saw that you're ridding in a mkiv vehicle. Not sure on that one, and all of the advise I gave is for a mkiii application. Hopefully some one else will be able to enlighten you further on this.. but, I'll keep what I've written in case it helps someone else out. (That, and it's hard to just delete something with that much typing in it
)

bump for a reply from an MKIV-er. thanks ramylson. Is my 2.0 that much different than the MKIII's? Are there any nice headers for the MKIV?
