Need information on 1991 Supercharged G60....

Hi Vortexers....need some info Please,
I am looking to purchase a 1991 Corrado G60 Supercharged and need some info on this car.
I currently own a 2001 Jetta TDI (wifes car) and a 2002 GTI 1.8T, but know squat about Corrado's.
How much HP/TQ do these babies put out stock??
What kind of problems do they have??
The one I'm thinking of getting is a low mileage beauty but am hesitant in purchasing a used VW.
What kind of performance mods can be put on these cars???
Any help is greatly appreciated

158 hp is stock at the crank from the factory back in 1990-1992 now ther are many things that can go wrong and if you don't have the love its not worth keeping

158hp can be upgraded for relatively low costs, they are really fun to drive, i havent had many probs, although ive got low milage, plus there so rare and did i mention they were fun to drive.

im probably asking for trouble but....
91's had a little more power that 158hp... ive seen reports of 160hp although ive only seen it 2-3 times.... BUT the proof is in the pudding... 91's felt alot more peppier and more refined in comparison to the 90's
there are always small problems in every models 1st year of production. most bugs are fixed inthe second year or half way through the first. mind you, not all the bugs were worked out of the 91's mind you all corrados!
but g60's especially are very "quirky"

The difference between the 90 and the 91 is the 91 had a bogger crank pulley which will spin the G charger pully faster and give up to 2 pounds more boost. There are probably more differences but I think that is the biggest difference. Everything else you can probably find on the CCA page.

correct me if I am wrong but I think that the 1990 was the second year the g-60 came out, they were the first year they came to the U.S. In europe they had it in 1989. not sure though.

First model year in Europe 1989, but they came autumn 1988.
And the hp thing, 158 American hp = 160 European hp (weird, huh?)
In Europe we multiply kilowatts by 1.36, while you guys multiply it by 1.34. (Everything always has to be bigger in the us, even one horsepower

)
Someone correct me if I'm totally wrong here.

hmm i wasnt aware of the different way in which they convert kilowats to hp...
still though 2psi must make some difference with peak hp and torque

91 has the digital dash, i like my 91 more than my friends 90 cause of that reason alone i think.... i odn;t like it when i turn my turn signal on in his car and it doesn;t tel me which one is on it just tells meone is on... but i am doubting the bigger pulley deal... cause then to come up with the 158hp it would have to have a smaller cc engine or something... unless the rationg were actually wrong haha

my low brain power isn't worth 2hp fight it out boys. maybe emissions too? also if you have a 91 5spd please check your pulleys for me I had a larger crank pulley on a 91 auto. dam I just lost more brain pwer

wrong, the 1990 has 158 stock the 1991 has 161 stock
