Need instructions to remove ECU.

I have a friend with a Golf IV 2.0 that is getting on the Neuspeed Supercharger GB and they need his ECU number. Lastnight I opened the rain shield and tried to remove it but I couldn't get it out. I don't want to break anything so I didn't put too much pressure. Is there a link with instructions? I did a search but only found Passat instructions. Thanx!

pop off the pass. side wiper, then take off the rubber weather strip along the rain gutter, then take off the cover for the pollen filter conected to the rain gutter, then starting at one corner pull the rain gutter up it will pop out of the groove on the windshield kinda like opening a ziplock back you will feel it pop up as your pulling on it, do that for the entire rain gutter and then you should have more than enough room to get the ECU out without stressing any of the plastic

Thanks!

no need to pry the gutter!!

Just pop the gutter off the windshield grooves, don't stress the plastic gutter there is no need to scrape up your hands or run the risk of cracking the rain gutter.

Use could've used the search. I found a ecu removal guide when I had to pull mine.

If all you need is the ECU #, just hook up with VAG-COM and go into the engine controller. You can see the # from there.

No. After a while of removing the ecu my glue is completely gone. Just make sure when you put the tray back in, you shut the hood and push down on the upper part where the glue is. You'll know you've done it right if you feel it snap.
Also, if he's removing it this one time, the glue will settle back in for sure.
