Hey guys, going to order parts and gaskets,
need a quick answer
Im putting in my new downpipe, and its off an audi (I think)
Manifold (4holes) to Dowpipe(2holes) to Cat(1hole)
I need that gasket between manifold and downpipe (two holes), but Im not sure which vehicle it came from. I seem to think audi 4000, but not sure.
Guys from a parts store cant find it without a year and make and model.
Anyone know?
Thanks
Marko

Re: Need quick answer (yuflesh)

Try VW Dasher (gas only) gasket. I just had a 4 into 2 Dasher manifold put on my Fox last week (with the TT 2 pipe Down pipe) and the gasket was a rectangle with 2 huge holes (stainless steel layers too, very nice gasket).
Ask Jonathan if my answer sounds incorrect. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

if anyone is interested in knowing 1978 VW Dasher (GAS ONLY) gasket will do.

Saw info on this on 'Adam's Fox page' (in links section here.) This might be what you mean, if I'm reading right. It is the Audi 4000 4cyl. gasket-------------------
-------------------
"(Restrictive) Exhaust Gasket: The very first thing any Fox owner should do is make the exhaust flow better. From the factory, the Fox's engine (as sold in North America) was restricted in the power it could make. This was accomplished primarily by the gasket between the downpipe and catalytic converter (or resonator in 1987 and 1988 Canadian models). Although the exhaust pipes are somewhere around 1.5" in diameter, the gasket cuts flow to less than 1.0", effectively "choking" the engine, thereby preventing it from making a lot of power. To fix this, simply go to a VW dealership and order the gasket designed for an Audi 4000 4-cyl. I have heard that the original restrictive Fox gasket is now superceeded by the non-restrictive Audi part. "

reddfoxx,
Another central Ohio Fox owner--now we really need to have a Columbus GTG. Scott, you, Shawn, Lido, and I (am I missing anybody?) all live within 30 miles of each other.
Marko,
Yes, any up-to-1979 Dasher/Audi Fox will work for the gasket (1979 and earlier Dashers are all gas, and Foxes were both never diesel and didn't exist after 1979) between the manifold and DP, provided your manifold is from a B1/early B2 gas model. The gasket at the end of the TT downpipe is your garden variety VW after-cat gasket. The same gasket was used on the back of Fox, 4K, Rabbit, Quantum and Golf cats.

I agree, with so many Foxers in one City a GTG is a great idea! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Count me in as "close enough". ' I don't drive a Fox anymore....... but hey, it's pretty close.

Re: (Longitudinal)

When I first started lurking a while back, a year or so before I posted, it seemed that there were a disproportionate number of Foxes in the Pennsylvania. No relation to one particular person, but rather a lot of the posters seemed to be from the Keystone state.
After closer inspection.......there seem to be a disproportionate number of VW's in Pennsylvania, for the same reasons there seem to be a disproportionate number of Chryslers in Auburn Hills Mi. Its Oregon and Washington state that I can't understand, chocked full of swallowtails and 2 door Mk1 Jettas.

Re: (BillLeBob)

Well I have been a happy Fox owner since 91 and have been on the 'tex since about 2001 and I have always noticed a lot of Foxes driving around Central Ohio (less lately) and a lot of Ohio posters on the Fox Forums....but I can say that I have bought used parts from a lot of Fox owners in PA.
Maybe we can have a huge Fox GTG in Pittsburgh to let all the PA guys and all the Ohio guys join in. Sweet.
Come to the Columbus Fox GTG this October! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
