**************** Need some emergency (well QUICK) help!!!***************

Ok, if anyone out there can give us a hand we'd greatly appreciate it. Tonight we decided to install my buddies new ATE power stop rotors and new mintex red box brake pads on his GTI. We figured since they all came iwth directions we could follow those and they'd be just fine. Buuuuuuuuuuuut, we've run into some trouble.... got the rim off, got the rotor off and got the pads out. Cant get the new pads on with the new rotor..... what do we need to do? We can get the pads in but they're too tight and wont fit over the new rotors.......
Please help http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
BTW, we really had no choice...... his old rotors and pads were so bad that he was barely able to stop

Don't compress the rear caliper with a C-clamp or you'll be in the market for new calipers
The rear caliper pistons are threaded so they can be used as a parking brake, if you compress them straight in you'll strip the threads. Front calipers are fine to compress tho http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I tried this on my 1994 Jetta before I knew that the pistons were threaded. I did no damage to the piston but bent an 1/8" piece of steel with a C-clamp
Be careful...

Then, how may I ask do you push the rears in?? Do you have to turn them back in? E-brake adj at the same time? Clockwise or counter? Thanks

You have to get some special tool to do it and the tool is really kind of expensive for what it is and all it does is turns and pushes at the same time, kind of a waste of money but I hear you can get a $12 tool and mod it a little to work. I think pottermans sells the tool
