Need some help. Kinda pissed about my gay wiper setup.....

Ok. I saw a post a little while back, of a guy who was asking abouut a mono wiper setup. Well, someone put a link to http://www.pocketrocket.on.ca , beacsue there are instructions on there.
So, I figured I had some time on my hands to do the mono wiper setup (Thinking that it shows you how to make it wipe the WHOLE windsheild). I followed the directions, which were really flaky, and now I'm here with a mono wiper that only wipes 1/2 of the windsheild. They never said whether it did the whole windsheild, or just half, like it's suppose to. I just figured that it would be completly worthless to put directions on how to do a ghetto mono wiper set up, so they must show how to make it do the whole thing.
So, What I am wondering now is, A)I didnt follow the directions and thats why I have a mono wiper for 1/2 the windsheild, or B) The directions are just crap.
Someone tell me how to make a full mono wiper, no partial.
ALSO: I know the 80 or 81 Scirocco had the full mono wiper setup. Can I put one of these on my car?

I have the scirocco one.. it fits.. kinda
you have to drill out the mount for the motor, as the 3 holes will be 60deg from where they were with the scirocco motor
you will have to make a bracket to hold the scirocco bracket to your raintray
you might have to dent the bulge in your firewall (below windshield) so that the linkage can clear it
Heres a trick for denting the firewall as you CANNOT get a hammer in there:
Make a little jack out of a large bolt (8 inches long should do) a piece of 2x4 with a recession drilled in it for the bolt, and a piece of pipe just bigger than the bolt.. that way you can put some nuts about halfway on the bolt, slip the pipe over till it hits the bolts .. put the wood down in the raintray line up the jack to where you want the dent, then start crankin.. it took about 3 minutes once i made the jack.
and voila!
you have a wiper that still doesnt do the whole windshield!!!!

In this pic you can see i have it set up to stop where it is.. and it wipes all the way to the VIN on the drivers side..
I think if I lengthen the motor crank by a millimeter or 3 it will make it the rest of the way... but I'm too lazy to take it apart and mess with it again...

to make a mono wiper is very simple the little metal arm that is on the motor that goes to the center wiper needs to be cut and welded about 1/4 inch longer than stock and it will clear the whole windshield

Wow, you're rocco wiper is up high. Here's the best pic I have of mine (ignore the rest of it please

).

I didnt have to dent the firewall and it cleared it all right. And it sits a lot lower than yours does too. It only took like 30 mintues to get it figured out.

hrmm yeah yours does look a bit lower, but it also looks like you have a bent arm on it.. mines straight.. so imagine it being about an inch lower with a bent arm..
..and I think i have a theory about the firewall denting issue..

Nope, I didn't have to dent anything (thank god)....but I still have not made any sort of bracket to hold the thing down either. I need to do that, the thing moves around like crazy and scrapes in there, it bugs me.

that's cool, but can you park the wiper in the middle of the windshield if you do it this way?

ummmm... You can park any wiper anywhere you want it. Just take the crank off while it is in the parked position and rotate it till the wiper(s) sit where you want. Leave the blade on the shaft so you can see where it sits. (And that may sound like common since but I took the blade off when I did it the first time and ended up with my wiper path a bit out of wack)

Is that small arm steel? brass? What is it?
I was just wondierng so I knew if I was supposed to weld or braze it. Thanks, guys!

I think mine is brass (or some kind of gold steel

)...well the one from the scirocco linkage..
I cant remeber what the stock one looks like.
