buyin i golf in next couple of days and i am looking for some wins at the track, as well as keeping it a daily driver. plan on investing 300-500$ CDN every month into the car (most of it under hood). took a test drive in a 2002 golf 1.8t with 16k km and one in a 2000 golf gti vr6 with 60k km. both in excelent condition inside an out. what would YOU get in this situation???

I drive my 1.8T to work, I have less than $1500 invested and I do 14.3 @ 100 MPH.

$400 on average every month...and you're in Canada?
Get the VR, park that money until you can drop a wad at HPA.
While you wait...read up on the (insert mult-comma number here posts in the archives on the topic of 1.8T/VR6 choices.

I say go with the 1.8T ... mods are quick and dirty with big gains. In general the VR6 costs more money to mod with less in return.
... but personally I'd still buy the VR6 since I'm that type of guy.

Well if you want to do it a little at a time then 1.8t. But if you can drop a some big change at once for a turbo VR then you will destroy a 1.8t.

Please use the search this has been covered many times in the past (as recent as yesterday) and they all end with the same results. A big flame war.
