I've got a Euro headlight switch and E-codes on their way from Potter. I've read a lot of stuff about jumpers and relay modifications that go along with this switch.
But a lot of it is conflicting (makes me think no one knows what the hell they're talking about.)
Basically, my question is: if i simply swap the Euro switch in place of the N/A switch, and don't do anything else, what will happen? What can i and can i not do? Will i have fogs without headlights? Will i have parking lights only?
What relay modifications, if any, are necessary on a 97 2.0 to do the above?
My DRl's are already killed by disconnecting the yellow wire behind 173. This was done a year ago.
Thanks...

You can have only parking.
You can have only parking and fogs.
You can have headlights and parking and no fogs.
You can have headlights and parking and fogs.
You can't have only headlights.
You can't have only fogs.
If you have anything, you'll have parking.

you can have headlights off, only parking lights on, headlights on with fogs and headlights on with rear fog if you hook that up...to get the fogs to come on with parking lights you need to put a jumper in place of the foglight relay...pottermans sent me one with my euroswitch, but i specifically asked for it

Aready have the rear fog wired up and the bulb in place...just waiting for the switch to turn it on.

Okay, so Majik says i can have fogs without headlights, and no jumper.
VR6 Mk3 says i need a jumper to do that? Who's full of it?
j/k, but i am trying to get the straight dope here....

Re: Need straight answers about euro switch... (VR6 Mk3)

there are three positions on the switch
1) Off/DRL
2) Parking/City Lights
3) Low Beams & Parking/City Lights
You can pull the switch out one notch in position 2 and 3 to get front fogs, and another notch to get rear fogs if installed....
this is how mine works with the jumper.
As far as i know the jumper allows you to run the fog lights with position 2. Without the jumper, i dont think the fog lights would turn on when you pull the switch out in position 2. this is where the confusion is, and to be honest im not sure whether its true or not...
The jumper also definitely lets you run lows and highs together.

There are two jumpers that you can get. The one that comes with the switch lets you do what I said.
The other one allows you to turn on all lights (highs & lows) at the same time. I think you have to buy that.

Okay, so i need a jumper to make the fogs come on with parking lights only.
When i ordered the switch from potter, i didn't ask for the high/low jumper. Will the switch still come with the fog jumper. Or are they one in the same?
ALso, which relay gets the jumper? Is 110 the fog relay?

Re: Need straight answers about euro switch... (RedVR6)

As a matter of fact, that's the site that brought up my questions. I was initially confused by its treatment of the jumper issue.
But now it's all clear.
I emailed Kristen Potter, and she told me that the jumper for the fogs without headlights is included with the switch, and that the high/low jumper is separate.
Thanks for everyone's help...

Actually, o wouldn't have ever thought to email the potter's about such a silly little question. But now i've got it all figured out. So thanks again (even Derek).
